Prescription Policy

 The Animal Hospital of West Port St. Lucie does not recommend having your pets prescriptions filled elsewhere-we do our best to keep our fees reasonable and to have a well stocked pharmacy-since there are no around the corner pharmacies for pets we need to stock quite an inventory for all of your pets needs which is a very large expense-if there is ever a problem with any medications that we have filled we will be available to research and speak with the manufacturer and in many instances you will be able to return it-we may also be able to treat your pet and bill the manufacturer this is not true if medicines are purchased elsewhere-many people are unaware that some medications carry a guarantee of protection if proof of correct administration from a veterinarian can be obtained.

Thanks to all of our wonderful clients the animal hospital of West Port St. Lucie is a busy neighborhood animal hospital-if everyone wanted written prescriptions for their pets needs we would spend a large portion of our day writing charting and documenting medications and not taking care of your beloved pets-which is our #1 priority-we also pride ourselves with providing quality medical service at reasonable rates so it makes sense if we have to sit on such a large inventory supplies and exert a lot of time working on prescriptions we would be forced to raise our fees on medical services in order for us to pay our overhead-which we do not want to do and should not have to in the foreseeable future - with all that said we can and will write prescriptions for those who still insist but we ask that you please give us a weeks notice to for any written prescription.
